Nov. 28th Newsletter

"And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."  (Luke 2:13,14).  One of the many titles that Isaiah the prophet would give to Jesus was, "Prince of Peace".  Paul describes Jesus as "He is our Peace".  Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my Peace I give unto".........We live in a very chaotic world.  We live in a world where often times "peace" is hard to find.  Please understand, the world does not, indeed, the world cannot bring peace.  It is only in Jesus that we can discover and then live in Peace.  Join us this coming Sunday as we celebrate the second Sunday of Advent and we light the candle of "Peace".

We continue to thank God for the services we have been able to experience lately at Cornerstone.  Because of the help of many and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we have been allowed to be a part of some very special moments of worship.  Our thanks to Sam and Ashley Myers and family for lighting our first candle of the Advent season.  Ryan read Scripture while Mason lit the candle.  They were supported by their sister Whitney.

A special thanks for those who came on Saturday and helped to decorate our foyer and sanctuary.  Personally, I thought the decorations were modest and very tasteful.  They will help us stay focused on the the true meaning of Christmas.

Did you pick up an ornament from our Angel Tree yesterday?  As we have in recent years, we are once again supporting the children who are staying at "A Friends House".  This meets such an important need, for children who have been dealing with many family issues that no child should be asked to have to deal with.  Your love and generosity go a long ways in assuring these children that they are loved and that God loves and provides for each one of them.

Our Christmas cookie contest is now less than 2 weeks away.  Bring your recipes next week and your cookies in 2 weeks on Sunday, December 11th.  Those 13 and older will be judging the cookies in a number of different categories.  This should be a lot of fun!  Hope you can participate by baking and judging the cookies!

Did you pick up your copy of our new pictorial directory?  A special thanks to Lynne Krogh for taking the pictures and Charles Cook for updating the directory.  We have plenty of copies in the foyer.  Pick one up for your home and one up for your office.  This should be a big help in identifying different folks and also getting the addresses and phone numbers!

Those serving this week include:  Rob and Annette Bernheisel for cooking on Wednesdayand Lu DePriest for dessert.  Our nursery workers for Sunday, December 4 are: Beth and Allison Jones and Elizabeth Sutton.  If you are unable to serve this week, please make arrangements to secure someone to take your place.  Thanks to all who have this willingness and heart to serve!

Parents!  Are you ready to take advantage of the offer made to you by Kim Raper and Hilary Jones?  This Saturday, December 3, from 1:00-5:00 at the church these ladies will be available to watch your children while you have a chance to do some shopping or just spending some time relaxing.  The ladies will be supplying snacks and a movie, but not a full meal.  Please let Kim or Hilary know if you are bringing your kids to the church so that Kim and Hilary can plan accordingly.

We asked, and you delivered!  We took up a special "love offering" to assist some of our folks during this Christmas season.  This offering was in addition to our regular offering.  Several hundred additional dollars were received.  Your gifts will be put to good use, in the name of Jesus!  Thank you and God bless you for your generosity!

Irmgard's and Emmy's sister from Germany, Al Freda ( I hope I spelled that correctly) passed away early this morning in Germany after battle-ling some severe health issues.  Irmgard and Emmy were both able to be with her in Germany before her passing.  Please remember the family in your prayers.  Even so Lord Jesus, come!

We hope you have a wonderful week.  Keep looking for the promised Messiah.  God bless and we shall see you soon...........love, pastor Joe
